General rule |
| Blackjack is a card deck in which the player tries
to beat the casino, represented by the croupier, by obtaining a hand
of the value egale or lower than 21 and higher than the hand of the
croupier. Although there are several players with a table of
Blackjack, the relation is always a player against casino, and never
player against player. |
| Value of the charts |
| Each chart has a value equal to its weight,
except for the aces and the figures. All the ten and
figures count for 10. An ace can be counted for 1 or 11
according to choice's of the player. The colors do not count.
Ex: - a hand made up of one 3 of square, one 6 a
heart and an injury of spade will be worth 19 - a hand made up of
an ace of clover and one 10 of spade will be worth 21. |
| A number of players |
A table of blackjack is generally made up of a
croupier (the donor) and from one to seven players. |
| A number of card decks. |
One in general uses one to eight plays. In the parts
with one or two plays, the charts are distributed to the hand.
When there is more than two plays, one uses a "shoe".
Note: It is rare to find parts with few card decks in the
casinos. |
| Blackjacks |
| When the first two charts of a player are an ace and a
chart of a value of ten, thus making a total of 21, it is said that
the player has a "Blackjack". In general a blackjack is pay 3/2
of the setting. When the player and the donor have both a
blackjack there is equality, and the player recovers his setting
(without profit). |
| Gives |
Each player receives two charts, visible face,
distributed one by one, in the direction of the needles of a watch.
The donor receives usually a visible chart face and the other
hidden face. |
| Actions of the player |
Once gives it carried out, one after the other,
the players can, if they wish it, require one or more additional
charts until it wishes to stop or when it "jumps" (the sum of its
charts making more than 21).
According to internal rules' of the casino, the player can
have the possibility of doubling his initial setting after having
received his the first 2 charts. One invites that "to double".
In this case the player receives only one additional chart.
Various restriction can be applied by the casino to this option
of play. In general, the player is authorized to double only if
its hand is worth 10 or 11. The casino can also prohibit to the
player to double after having separated its charts. The more the
casino restricts the use of this option, the more its advantage on the
player is large.
If the first two charts received by the player are of the
same value (e.g. two 9), this last A the possibility of separating
them, thus creating two different hands. For that, the player
must add a setting equivalent to his initial setting. The
majority of the casinos limit the number of separation successive.
It is also usual to authorize to draw only one additional chart
when two aces are separated. |
| To jump |
When the hand of a player exceeds 21, it is said
that it jumped and it loses his setting whatever the result of the
hand of the donor. When a player jumps, its charts and its
setting are collected at once by the croupier. |
| Equality |
If the player and the donor have each one a hand
of the same value without to have jumped, it is said that there is
equality and the player does not lose his setting, but does not gain
anything either. Nevertheless Blackjack will be always
victorious face has a hand of 21 (e.g. 10 prick + 4 heart +7 pricks). |
| Actions of the donor |
Once that all the players played and if there
remain players not having jumped, the donor decouvre its chart face
cacheé (or gives a chart, according to rules' of the casino) and
distributes charts, if nécéssaire, until its hand reached a total of
17 or more. After that, if the donor jumped, it pays the
remaining players, if not it pays the players having a hand stronger
than his. |
| Insurance |
When the visible chart of the donor is an ace, the
players have the possibility "of ensuring themselves". This
insurance is a setting equivalent to half of the initial setting and
is paid 2 per 1 if the hand of the donor makes Blackjack. If the
donor does not make Blackjack, the setting is lost.
